Program Participant Requirements
At the Alameda County Safe Parking Program, we focus on tailoring requirements and qualifications to meet the unique needs of each individual. Here are some key criteria:
** Please note that we do not accept RVs or converted vans for safe parking at this time. However, we remain committed to providing support and resources to eligible individuals with other types of vehicles
Through these carefully considered requirements and qualifications, we create a supportive environment, assisting participants in their journey towards stable housing and an improved future.
- Vehicle Ownership: Eligible individuals must be the legal owner or co-owner of the vehicle they intend to use for safe parking.
- Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required to ensure responsible use of the vehicle within the program.
- Insurance and Registration: Participants must have valid insurance and registration for their vehicles, or have the ability to obtain insurance
- No Outstanding Warrants: To ensure a safe and secure environment, participants must not have any outstanding warrants or legal issues that may pose a risk.
- Agreement to Program Rules: All participants are required to sign an agreement acknowledging and adhering to the program's rules and guidelines.
- No Couples or Children: Please note that due to our physical location constraints, we can not enroll couples and children at this time (we are pet-friendly

- Call our program at 973-315-6000 to inquire about availability and review your eligibility with our intake staff.
- Schedule a site visit at the safe parking location to familiarize yourself with the facilities and program setup.
- Complete the intake packet, providing us with essential information to assist you better.
- Review the housing plan and program process to understand the support and resources available to you.
- Bring the necessary documents, including your photo ID, driver's license, vehicle registration, and insurance, to complete the registration process.
- Once approved, you can start safely parking immediately at our designated location, taking the first step towards stability and progress.
- This entire process usually takes place from start to finish in under an hour
